Your Jazz unit is really an attention getter!! Listening to the music will help students to broaden their music appreciation. Teaching a unit integrating technology has to be tough when you only have your students 45 minutes a day! Working with the computer lab manager is a great way to add some time to your unit. Your faciliation document is wonderful....your story is great!!

Your EQ is a great attention grabber! I think that your unit will help students get into the Cold War through the technology you have chosen to incorporate. Especially like your "blog rules" and "self-peer-teacher" on the rubric.

The Cold War is a difficult concept to learn about. Your umbrella question is very intriguing and should capture the students' interest. The outline for for group work is a terrific idea to keep the kids focused.

It is exciting to hear that students are already posing questions and making connections! You have a tremendous amoun of information to cover. Use of the blog in a very 'safe' way is clever and certainly provides much food for thought for me. Excellent!

My feedback is... Sue, this was always a topic that confused me in middle school. Maybe if my teachers had taken the time to design such a thorough unit, I would have appreciated my current events more.

Your unit sounds like a really fun one! Your summative assessment performance is a great way to help students to learn performance skills. I started playing a clarinet in fifth grade and know how valuable playing an instrument is for a child to gain self-confidence. Your PowerPoint on teaching/reviewing notes is really a great attention keeper.

My feedback is...I think it is wonderful to teach students about this period of history. I never covered this period in my history classes. I like your benchmarks to prevent off task time. I think it is great that you have accommodated the problems of blogging by blogging with students. The student sample is an excellent resource for this time period!

I had a lot of feedback for you, and somehow it all went away. :( I said a lot, but some of it had to do with the intriguing EQ and how wonderful I think your ideas for helping the students take responsibility for their own learning. It is obvious that you put a lot of time and thought into this unit. I wish my comments hadn't flown into cyberspace.
